Tips for doing our research guides

Linking to LibGuides

Please use the following syntax when publishing links to specific Topic Research Guides on the web, in emails, in marketing materials, etc.  This will allow us to gather usage statistics by organization to report in the Network Statistics.

Individual guides:

Syntax to be used -- http://external.worldbankimflib.org/uhtbin/redresguides.cgi?id=XXXXX

Substitute XXXXX with the "pid=" value you see in the LibGuides URL

   Example:

LibGuide on Water URL  -- http://researchguides.worldbankimflib.org/content.php?pid=28717

    Publishing URL -- http://external.worldbankimflib.org/uhtbin/redresguides.cgi?id=28717

Linking to E-journals

We recommend you use the following linking method to link users to journals. This link will run a tile search in the journal search function of Library Search and return the results page to the user. The user will be able to see all print and electronic copies of the journal. To recreate the link below simply replace the parts in red with your desired journal using quotes around it. For example, "Harvard Business Review" or "Journal of Economic Development".

imf-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/jsearch?query=any,contains,Harvard business review”&tab=jsearch_slot&vid=01TIMF_INST_V1&lang=en_US&offset=0&journals=any, ”Harvard business review”

Remember to test the URL to ensure it's bringing up the proper results.

Deep linking within a database

  • If you need to link to a specific service within a database and not the main page, please use the "Add proxy URL to the front of this link" checkbox.  It assures access for remote staff as well as provides usage statistics.
