Bloomberg Professional Terminal: Home

This guide helps you understand how to navigate Bloomberg.

Bloomberg Professional provides current and recent historical financial data on individual equities, stock market indices, fixed-income securities, currencies, commodities, futures, and foreign exchange for both international and domestic markets.

There are 21 ​Bloomberg Professional terminals (kiosks) located throughout the IMF headquarters buildings including one terminal in the IMF Library, room HQ1-C-650. All of these kiosks are open to all IMF staff. Download Limits: Data extracted through the Excel API is subject to monthly download limits. Please be judicious in downloading data to avoid hitting the limits for yourself and all other users. More information

ACCESS TO BLOOMBERG DURING COVID-19 WORK FROM HOME ARRANGEMENTS
6 Bloomberg kiosks are accessible in HQ, while 16 of the Bloomberg Professional licenses continue to be temporarily assigned to designated users across departments. The designated users can update files for you and do research on your behalf.

Subsets of Bloomberg data are available via data license and accessible to all staff from their desktops:
Bloomberg Data License (searchable in EcOS and EDI)
Bloomberg Government Bonds Data License

Accessing Bloomberg Professional

You must create your own Bloomberg login:

  1. To access Bloomberg sign on to the computer with your IMF username and password
  2. Click on the Bloomberg icon
  3. Press the green Enter (GO) key
  4. Click the "Create New Login" link near the bottom of the page
  5. Follow the instructions to create your own login
